Team 3: Chronic non-communicable diseases, Ageing & Health policy -CRISSPOP

director : Bruno VENTELOU, Economist, DR2 CNRS

Team 3, CRISSPOP brings together health economists, sociologists, specialists in medical informatics and epidemiologists from INSERM, IRD, Aix-Marseille University and University of Nice. Its main areas of research are the following:

  • Research studies on the demand for “long term care” in Europe, with, a focus the impact of ageing on health systems;
  • Economic and public health assessment of medical practice in ambulatory care;
  • Economics of health systems in developing countries with a focus on the impact of the epidemiological transition from communicable to non-communicable diseases.

Together with epidemiological and public health approaches, these areas of research are explored using methods borrowed from both theoretical economics and econometrics: choice modeling, revealed preferences, advanced econometrics. Research benefit from large scale data collection projects such as the National Panel of Primary Care Physicians and representative samples of the French general population carried out in close collaboration with the French Ministry of Health and Social Affairs.

The CRISSPOP team ensures the collaboration of the UMR SESSTIM with the LABEX Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) at Aix-Marseille University and with the Department of General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at La Timone.
